Greensboro, NC (Aug 24, 2021) – For 50 years, the Greensboro Youth Symphony Orchestra (GSYO) has provided some of the best musical experiences for the youth of the Triad. The GSYO is happy to announce the auditions for the 2021-2022 season!

The GSYO program consists of three sets. The flagship ensemble, Youth Orchestra, will be conducted by GSYO’s new musical director, Heather Lofdahl. String ensembles for younger students include Youth Strings and Youth Philharmonic, conducted by Greensboro Symphony (GSO) violinists Stephanie Ezerman and Colleen Chenail respectively.
“I am delighted to be working with the musicians of the Greensboro Symphony Youth Orchestra for the 2021-2022 season,” says Heather Lofdahl. “We will be playing an incredible repertoire from all over the world and I can’t wait to get started! “
Beyond weekly rehearsals, season highlights include three performances at the Dana Auditorium, the annual fall retreat at Haw River State Park (night for members of the youth orchestra), and a performance tour. Memorial Day weekend in May 2022 in Atlanta, including performances, attending an Atlanta Symphony concert, and more!
The GSYO is proud to have remained active throughout the past year, live-streaming three performances and safely hosting weekly in-person rehearsals. This season, all GSYO members who are eligible to be vaccinated against COVID-19 will need to do so to participate.
“We’re proud of what we’ve been able to accomplish over the past year, staying active with weekly in-person options and three live concerts,” notes Peter Zlotnick, Director of Education at GSO. “We’re looking to build on that this year, while also improving what we’re able to offer musically and socially – it’s going to be a great season!” “
