Rob Zombie guitarist explains how Dave Mustaine managed to outdo James Brown

Rob Zombie guitarist John 5 spoke in a recent interview with Big Machine Records and gave some details about his collaboration with Dave Mustaine.

John 5 recently announced his brand new record, ‘Sinner,’ which will be released on October 29. Before his release, the guitarist finally released the first single from the album, “Que Pasa”.

The 51-year-old musician first used voice samples when recording “Que Pasa,” but wanted to bring someone more familiar to the rock and metal audience. Therefore, John 5 collaborated with the leader of Megadeth Dave Mustaine.

In the conversation, John 5 revealed that he used the voice samples of famous soul singer James Brown in the song, and that was one of the main reasons he decided to collaborate with Mustaine as he said it was hard to beat Brown’s voice.

The guitarist noted that Mustaine has the perfect growl and shared the gratitude and honor he felt working with Dave Mustaine. John 5 concluded by saying that the instrumental song “Que Pasa” suited Dave’s voice perfectly.

John 5 shared his thoughts about working with Dave Mustaine:

“It was a complete honor. Because there was a James Brown in there, and James Brown is pretty hard to beat.

But Mustaine, it was just perfect because he has this growl, this voice. I mean, the delivery was epic, and I’m super excited and super honored to have him on the track.

I love these instrumental songs with cool vocal hooks or it could be something like that. It makes it so different and interesting. It just assembled perfectly.

I’m very happy. When I played it for him he was okay with it. I’m really, really happy about it. “
