Today Dutch musician and visual artist Young & Sick released his new album BROTHER via B3SCI Records. The album is available to stream everywhere now here + listen to the new single “BROTHER” here. The album will also be available later this fall on a limited edition translucent orange vinyl, available for pre-order here.
BROTHER emerged from self-imposed isolation – written and recorded in a Vermont cabin with Luke Woods, Young & Sick’s bandmate and longtime music director. Woods’ near-death experience served as a catalyst for the themes BROTHER explores, as Young & Sick contemplate the fleetingness of life and navigate the healing process. A testament to the duo’s sonic versatility, BROTHER guides us on an enchanting journey, fusing operas and electronic flourishes; orchestration of the impressionist era alongside modern psychedelia.
On the album, Young & Sick says:
“We did BROTHER in the summer of 2019. Nick had just returned east after a few years of slow walks around Los Angeles, and Luke was recovering from a bad blunt trauma and septic shock.
Above all – the joy of being reunited, the fear of separation, our shared and obscure musical obsessions (cry to SpaceArk) – we wanted to make an album of songs that would make us laugh like college kids. An album that we hope approaches both the strangeness and the timelessness of our love.
Stay safe there, my darlings. “

Along with today’s album release, a new single and title song, “BROTHER,” which Young & Sick say “This song is enough on the nose. Does what it says on the tin . Wear her heart on her arm like a tattoo. And that’s good. It’s a song about unconditional love, and that’s all it needs to be. “
This summer, Young & Sick unveiled the new project starting with “ANGELS”, a collaboration with MUNYA of Montreal. Continuing this trajectory, the follow-up single “CICADAS” brought listeners a hypnotic mix of classical symphony and electronic instrumentation, which Atwood Magazine described as “a work of art that makes you dream”. With the tracks from the 2020 album “MONDAY” and “DINNER PARTY”, BROTHER culminates in the form of a rich composition of haunting sounds.
