Although there has been no official confirmation on this, Stag is also rumored to have auditioned for the singer spot in THE FEAR FACTORY after the departure in September 2020 of the original leader of this group Burton C. Bell.

After temporarily separating from THE FEAR FACTORY – the influential, gold-certified industrial metal band he co-founded – in 2002 guitarist and extreme metal pioneer Dino Cazares (also from BRUJERIA and ASESINO) has begun laying the groundwork for a new project that will combine metallic aggression, muscular precision and melodic accessibility. Initially teaming up with renowned drummers John Sankey (DEVIL YOU KNOW, DECONCENTRATED) and Nicholas Barker (CRADLE OF DIRT, DIMMU BORGIR) for writing, Cazares eventually finished the album with drummer Tim Yeung (MORBID ANGEL, VITAL REMAINS, ETERNAL HATE) and singer Tommy Vext (BAD WOLVES, GLANDERS),Cazaresthe vision of has come true, and DIVINE HERESY was born.

The band’s first album, “Bleed the Fifth” — produced by former MACHINE HEAD/SOULFLY guitarist Logan Mader (GOJIRA, DRIVER DEVIL) and with the cover of Joachim Lütke (SWORN ENEMY, CREATOR, DIMMU BORGIR) — was released in 2007 in North America via Media Records of the Century and by THE FEAR FACTORYis the longtime home, Roadrunner foldersin Europe – received rave reviews from the worldwide metal press. metal hammer called DIVINE HERESY “a quintessential 21st century American metal band”, while Kerrang! said the album “couldn’t be more metal if it hung a huge V around the Eiffel Tower’s neck while gargling liquid mercury”. The album also featured a guest appearance by guitarist Marc Rizo (SOULFLY, CAVALERA PLOT, ILL NINO) and bassist Tony Campos (STATIC-X, TOOTH, MINISTRY). After adding the bassist Joe Payne (NILE), the band supported the release of the album by touring extensively alongside KILLSWITCH COMMITMENT, ALL THAT REMAINS, STATIC-X, SWORN ENEMY, DARK PEACE, THE SHADOW FALLS and CHIMARYas well as appearing at Australia Sound wave festival.

Unfortunately, DIVINE HERESYThe initial formation of split in 2008 when Vext was released, and Cazares, Yeung and Payne quickly rebounded with a new singer Travis Neal (LEAD INSIDE, THE BLOOD LINE) and released their second album, “Bearer of plagues”in 2009. The record also saw the band’s sound augmented by keyboards from Rhys Fulber (FRONT LINE ASSEMBLY). Produced by Maker again, and featuring artwork from Anthony Clarkson (DEVIN TOWNSEND, KATAKLYSM, HYPOCRISY), the album – which cracked the Billboard Top 200 upon its release – was heavier than its predecessor, with all music describing it as “a mind-blowing headlong metal album” and Kerrang! praising its “thunderous and breathtaking intensity”. The band hit the road with flying colors, touring with artists like MOON SPELL, GIGAN, AFTER THE BURIAL and 36 CRAZY FISTSbut soon after Cazares joined a new look THE FEAR FACTORY, DIVINE HERESY took a break.

“Bleed the Fifth” and “Plaguebringer” were released on vinyl in May 2021 via M-Audio Theory. “Bleed the Fifth” was released on black and white haze vinyl, while the 2009 one “Bearer of plagues” was offered on smoke-colored wax. Each disc also included additional bonus tracks not contained in the original CD releases.
