Celebrating the art of songwriting with singer and guitarist Deon Mendenhall – St George News


FUNCTIONALITY – Live music is back in Southern Utah and the Canyon Media team is back to spotlight local musicians, so get together for another session of Paper Jams.

Gentry Music & Arts recently hosted Deon Mendenhall, a singer and guitarist from St. George whose performances celebrate the art of songwriting.

Mendenhall’s typical setlist spans decades and spans various musical genres. For this session, he performed some recent country hits, including “Craving You”, written by Dave Barnes and Julian Bunetta for Thomas Rhett’s third album.

He also covered Sam Hunt’s No.1 single Take Your Time, which Hunt co-wrote.

“I really like this song,” he said. “It’s just about spending time with someone when you first meet. “

Mendenhall developed a passion for music very early in life. Although he traded his rockstar dreams for an almost 30-year career in auto sales, his talent keeps him busy entertaining crowds at restaurants, resorts, art festivals, events. corporate, gala dinners, weddings and private parties in Utah, Idaho and Nevada.
